Months and months ago Naomi asked me to make the mini treats for her friend, Alyssa's baby shower. The assignment: gender-neutral, grey and yellow, and "Ball Jar" themed (the mommy-to-be's last name is Ball. Cute, right?). I of course was THRILLED that the colors for this shower were grey and yellow- the OFFICIAL colors of The Short Giraffe! But also, I know Naomi, I have gotten to know some of her friends, and therefore I knew the style she had in mind, which I also love. Cute but modern, fun, bright and just a touch of nostalgia that I always love! It was perfect! The adorable bunting you'll see is by the very talented Katie of Katie Sue's Keepsakes. Alyssa loved all of her treats, and from the sounds of things the party was a great success! So here are the awesome photo's, which in my opinion are totally magazine-worthy thanks to the endless skill that Naomi Chokr Photography brings to the table. Enjoy!

Lots of sweet love!

As I have mentioned in earlier posts, I became a member of a local group, The Designing Daughters, and was asked to be the dessert sponsor for their upcoming Summer Event, "A Fashionable Gala.." And what a gala it was! Some of Sarasota's finest were a part of this amazing evening at the beautiful Sarasota Yacht Club!. Food, fashion, fun and drinks-a-flowing make for quite an evening!

My "theme" I was given to work with was "Nautical Chic-" tons of hot pinks, nautical blue's and white, with a touch of summer and citrus thrown in between! The result was a SCRUMPTIOUS dessert display put on by Yours Truly, that included Raspberry Zest and White Chocolate Blueberry Mini Cupcakes, White Chocolate Lime Cake Truffles and Zesty Lemon Shortbread Cookies. They were a hit! If you take a look at one of my photo's, you'll see a young gentleman, Eduardo Anaya, who blogs over at Preen and Chic. He was literally my #1 Fan for the evening, and I swear ate a dozen Raspberry Zest cupcakes by himself! He was already hired as my official PR Director by the time the night was over- thank you, Eduardo, for your kind words and major sweet tooth!

As usual, because she is SO fabulous, my friend Naomi Chokr was asked to come and photograph the event- stunning (but what else is knew with her, right!?) My other gal pal, Mrs. Ashley Grueters of SRQtee's Events, a fellow Designing Daughter, was the Design Committee Chair for the event and did a fabulous job!

Take a peak at the photo's, they're pretty darn cute, if I do say so myself :)

Lots of sweet love!

I recently joined a GREAT networking group here in Sarasota called "Designing Daughers." A group of powerful, entrepreneurial and FASHIONABLE women have gotten together to throw some of the most fabulous fashion-inspired charity events each year, all to benefit the local consignment Designing Women Boutique. I love fashion, I wanted to get more involved in donating my services to charitable events, and this seemed to be the perfect fit!
I have been a member of other networking groups before, and I have always been rather underwhelmed. It always seems to be large rooms full of awkward conversations and wasted time. Within one week of joining Designing Daughters, however I was chosen to be the dessert vendor for their VERY large and VERY fabulous "Fashionable Gala," and was able to showcase some of mini's at the T. Georgiano's Shoe Salon Trunk Show for Diana E. Kelly! My Lavender Honey and Mango Cream with Toasted Coconut Meringue Mini Cupcakes were quite a hit! I also through in a few of my ever-popular White Chocolate-Lime Cake Truffles, as Diana's new collection was "Key West" in theme- it only seemed right! For being a newbie, these ladies sure know how to show a welcome!
I am so excited for the upcoming "Fashionable Gala," and tickets are actually on sale now! If you are a fashionista, a foodie, a boater, or just someone who wants to enjoy a great night out, come and check it out! The Short Giraffe will be there with our treats, and you can enjoy the amazing view of the Sarasota Yacht Club for our event! Hope to see you all there!

Lots of sweet love!

Can you say HOLY BUSY APRIL!? Because I sure can! This month, although only about halfway over, has been one of the busiest times of my life! It has also been my FAVORITE month, for many reasons, the first being it was my birthday month :) Thats me over there to the left, at my birthday dinner at the AWESOME new SRQ bistro State Street Eating House. It was SUCH a great night with my wonderful boyfriend and my closest friends. And it was also one of the few times where I wasn't the one making the birthday dessert! Thats right, that hot little confectionary treat right there was my customized birthday ICE CREAM CAKE from my friends' Jenn and Rob. The giraffe's are pretty self explanatory, and I'll just leave the half-naked Barbie and gold stripper pole up to anyone's guess.....needless to say, it was a great night! Jenn and Rob are my dear friends, and they are the proud owners of Big Olaf Ice Cream of Sarasota! I can personally attest that their ice cream cakes and flavors are AMAZING, and yes, even pink Barbie and giraffe-covered cakes taste pretty good, too!

April has also been the official kick-start of the Short Giraffe Mini Confections and Catering, and things have been taking off quite nicely! I am a new member of a great local networking group who has offered me a great charitable opportunity to showcase my desserts to the public (more to come, hint hint...), I have had order after order from many great new clients, and LOTS of online traffic to my new site! Its so exciting, and I am forever grateful and blessed.

With that being said, I'm off to make a couple dozen more mini's for a great kids event tomorrow, and prep for another AMAZING photo shoot this weekend! Hopefully there's some time for sleep somewhere in there. Check out one more uber-cute photo from some mini's I made for another April birthday, Baseball Cake Truffles for 11 year-old Joseph! There were a few yummy Limoncello and Black Velvet Mini Cupcakes in there for the adults, too. :)

Lots of sweet love!
